Aberdeen – Britain’s New Boomtown

While most of Britain is feeling the world-wide pinch of higher fuel  and living costs, Scotland’s Aberdeen is seemingly untouched, flourishing even.  An article in The Independent has dubbed Aberdeen the ‘City that the Credit Crunch Forgot’ while it rides high on its production of crude oil which is now selling for an unprecedented $120 a barrel.

The paper goes on to explain that “Oil and gas have bought rich benefits for the majority of Aberdonians. The unemployment rate is well below that of the Scottish average at just 0.8 per cent. Gross weekly earnings are, on average, £606 – a fifth higher than the rest of the country – and the recruitment centres have more jobs than applicants.”

There is a lot going on in Aberdeen, lots of opportunities and prospects for good fortune and employment.  Like many other countries, the UK is currently suffering skills shortages and could benefit from your skills.  Take a look at www.workingin-uk.com for information.
